Miami Seaquarium has offered to be our host facility for the 2011 IMATA Conference; they also hosted the IMATA Conference back in 1980. The Seaquarium opened its gates back in 1955 and has served as a source of education through entertainment for many generations of guests.

Miami, Florida, is a great destination with easy access into Miami International Airport.

For many coming from other locations, the warmer weather in September is a plus, average high of 85° Fahrenheit (29.45°C) and average low of 70° Fahrenheit (21.12°C). This locale also opens up the opportunity for those to travel to other facilities or places of interest that are just a few hours away, such as the Florida Keys and Orlando.

The Miami Seaquarium is located in South Florida on beautiful Biscayne Bay and sits on 37 acres (14.80 hectares). The Seaquarium is home to a variety of animals including a killer whale, pacific white-sided dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, seals, sea lions, birds, manatees, sharks, turtles, deer, and a wonderful array of tropical fish. The park offers a variety of shows including two dolphin shows, a killer whale and pacific white sided dolphin show, and a sea lion show. They also offer two swim programs, which allow guests the opportunity to get in the water with families of bottlenose dolphins at their new Dolphin Harbor facility. The park also has a rescue and rehabilitation program for injured manatees and sea turtles.

Miami is a great destination with many attractions to visit either before or after the conference. The Everglades National Park is an untamed ecosystem where you can explore all they have to offer. The Biscayne National Park is the only living tropical reef within the continental US, which you can enjoy on glass bottom boat or by diving. The Richard Petty Driving Experience offers guests the opportunity to ride or drive an authentic NASCAR Nextel Cup-style racecar. Or you can enjoy the nightlife of South Beach and Coconut Grove if that is your style.
